OPAC is proud to be the official venue for one of our community's beloved holiday traditions: Dia de Los Muertos! This Mexican holiday, held at the beginning of November, welcomes back the souls of deceased relatives for a reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. A blend of Mesoamerican ritual, European religion and Spanish culture, the holiday celebration at OPAC features:
- Altars made by the community, artists and special guests
- Traditional dance, musical performances and other performing arts
- Work by local artists including poetry readings, film screenings, installations, and more
- Special guest speakers, including local nonprofits and dignitaries
- Authentic Mexican food and beverages
- Raffle prizes and giveaways
- Photo Ops, crafts and other interactive activities and so much more!
